Stay Single Until You've Realized These Things: Part 1

*Disclaimer: I am not an expert on love, nor will I ever be. I have never been in love and if you've read my previous posts, then you know that I've also never been in a relationship. (Ah, shocker!) Click HERE if you want to read about that. I have just been fortunate to serve a living God that feeds me wisdom and discernment.

Happy Wednesday, to all my beautiful people!

Today we are talking guessed it... SINGLENESS! I feel like this is such a heavily weighted topic that people either speak negatively or positively about it. Well, I'm going to be the positive person and encourage you to embark on this journey of singleness with me and enjoy Part 1 of my 2 part series on singleness.

But I have to be honest.

This isn't going to be that sweet kind of post that fluffs up the truth and makes you feel good inside.

This is cold, hard, raw truth, that I believe ALL singles need to hear. Even me! I learned these things and I am still learning, while I'm embracing, yet another, single season. (That's a good thing!) And I will say this, IF YOU ARE NOT SINGLE, you can still benefit from this truth, as well.

If you don't love yourself, why should someone else?

You know that saying, treat others how you want to be treated? Yeah, that hasn't been more true until now! When you love yourself and I mean truly, truly love who you are and accept that the Lord has blessed you with this precious gift of life, then you won't tolerate anything less than you deserve. When you know your worth in Christ, then you'll never search for love from someone else. Fall in love with yourself, marry yourself and be comfortable with who you are as a person, before you invite someone else to tag along on the journey.

Accept your past, live in the present and be confident for the future.

You made a couple of mistakes. You did a few things. You lived and now is the time to learn. Acknowledge that what has happened to you has shaped you into the person that you are now and will only shape you to become the best version of yourself, in the future. If you need more on confidence, CLICK HERE.

Acknowledge that you have failed before and you will probably fail again.
If you never fail, you never grow. If you never grow, then you never achieve. If you never achieve, then what is life truly about? Know that you have made mistakes, but make it a priority to learn from those failures. And remember, they're only failures if you never learned from them.

You're not perfect, nor will you ever be.

Sorry honey, you're cute, but you're not flawless. It's that simple. Never aspire to be perfect, because your perception of perfection will eventually become a deception. (Like that rhyme? Feel free to quote me) Seriously. You will never be satisfied if your goal is to be perfect, so just enjoy who the Lord created you to be.

Understand that relationships don't fix problems.

If you want a sure fire way to ruin a relationship, jump in with a baggage of problems and overwhelming discontentment, dump it onto your significant other and let me know how that works out. People have their own baggage, nobody else wants to carry yours! To make this simple to understand, know that a relationship will not fix your problems, but it will SURELY, I repeat, SURELY, reveal them! A relationship may not be able to fix your issues, but it can help reveal to you what issues you have, that need to be fixed. There is a difference.

make love great again
