What is Self-Care and Why You Need It
Definition: any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.
Self-care is about taking care of yourself and putting your needs above everyone else's. It's not about neglecting responsibilities, but tackling those first and then using whatever time you have to relax, unwind, and figure what you need in life.
The biggest key to self-care is doing something that makes you feel good during and AFTER you've completed it. Never pick an activity that will make you feel sluggish or disappointed after. For example, eating a pint of ice cream after a week of working out... you may or may not regret that one pint. Choose wisely and with intention.
Also note that, self-care is not always dandelions and roses. You've heard it time and time again, it's not always bubble baths or a glass of wine. Sometimes it's about looking in the mirror and realizing that maybe you need to lose weight. Maybe you need to end that relationship. Maybe you need to see a Doctor for those thoughts you keep having.
Self-care is about taking care of yourself - even when the going gets tough. I've listed a few options for self-care that you may enjoy. Take a look, screenshot a few, live it up.
