5 Ways to Be More Attractive On the Inside

Our country or better yet, our world is so encompassed with outer looks- everyone needs to look a certain way, no matter what's on the inside. As cliché as it sounds, we love to gaze upon individuals hoping that we can see past their negative attributes, but we forget that everything we do, we are doing for God. Our actions, our words, our attributes are all showcasing our relationship with Him.
Yeah, it’s great to be finer than wine and to be considered thick, athletic, curvy or whatever label society puts on us, but wouldn’t it be greater to know that God wants you to be beautiful or handsome on the INSIDE and the OUT?

Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
— 1 Samuel 16:7

Here's 5 ways (in my opinion) to be more attractive on the inside:

positivity happiness smile

1. Radiate Positivity
I know that it can be extremely difficult to maintain positivity when we think the world is rooting against us, but I promise you, positivity = peace. Peace is a sense of calmness that the Lord enjoys giving when we trust him. Trust with others can almost feel like a roller coaster at Six Flags, but trust with the Lord is as easy as breathing- you never have to think about it. When you can be positive and radiate peace given to you from the Lord, you will never have a negative thought cross your mind.

Now, I’m not saying that life isn’t going to throw curveballs at you, but they’re a lot easier to handle, when you trust God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness...
— Galatians 5:22

2. Love Yourself
This one is my favorite. I believe that the key to any successful relationship (or friendship) is the foundation of Christ between two individuals and the ability to love oneself. These days it almost feels like a burden to love ourselves- we’re either criticizing ourselves for not being skinny enough, fit enough or maybe even smart enough. Take the time to see yourself the way the Lord sees you.

He sees your potential, he sees your future, he sees your attributes and he sees the light in your eyes when something brings you joy. Learn to love yourself through the good times, through the failures that later turn into lessons and the times when you feel as if you’re unlovable (it’s impossible). It doesn’t cost you a penny to fall in love with yourself. Please, just try it.

For no one has ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and tenderly cares for it, as the Messiah does the church.

3. Passionate
Find something that sets your soul on fire and stick with it. Find what you’re passionate about and let it propel you in the right direction. To be passionate about something shows that you not only care, but that you are also willing to fight for it, because it means so much to you. Maybe your passion is fashion, working out, event planning or whatever floats your boat- find it, pray about it, do it and embrace that passion. Your purpose can also be aligned with your passion so just wait and see. I promise, everyone will see that sparkle in your eyes when you talk about it.

...Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do all to the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

4. Confidence
The ability to believe in yourself while not overshadowing others is one of the most attractive qualities any individual can possess. It’s one thing to love yourself and another thing to love yourself, believe in your abilities and be your own biggest cheerleader. Confidence isn’t something that occurs overnight- it’s a gradual progression of personal growth. Once you have it, you just need to fight your inner battles to maintain it and stick with it. I wrote a little bit about confidence, a few posts ago, so feel free to check that out for more. (Click HERE for more about Confidence)

This is the year that I claim will be your BEST YEAR! Utilize these traits to shape yourself into a better individual and become the BEST YOU! (Another post linked HERE on How to Be The Best You)

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
— Hebrews 4:16

5. A Heart that yearns for Jesus
Have you ever met someone that is so passionately in love with Christ, that you just can't help but smile?
This is the kind of personality that we should all try to exude - a love so strong and so powerful that everyone around us feels it and wants more.

Shine so brightly that rays of your passion and devotion to your faith, blind the enemy and remove the darkness, in this world.

A heart that longs for him is the most attractive quality of all. It's just that simple.
(More on this topic to come soon)

O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
— Psalms 63:1
